Guest Bogger Kevin Villegas!

Hello all! We are back up and going...please help me in welcoming guesblogger/author Kevin Villegas!!

Guest Blog:
Elves!

Without a doubt Elves are the most recognized fantastic race from Fantasy Novels (no knock on dwarves). Every author has their own take on Elves and Elven society. I have chosen to take a different approach with the Elves in my novel “The Sunwright Chronicles – Empire at War.” There are three sources of inspiration for the society I created for the Elves. The foremost influence would be from “The Simarillion” written by J.R.R. Tolkien. I have always liked the way Tolkien designed the Elven race known as the Noldor. A race of Elves that would be decimated by war, though generally peaceful they also had a good edge.

Never afraid to meet their enemy in battle I’ve always envied the Noldor. The other two influences are real world, I like to study history and have always been fascinated by Athenian and Spartan cultures. In creating the Elves of Garion I have melded all three influences together and created a special society.

So what sets my Elves apart? No pointed ears! Yes you read that right. The Elves of Garion do not have pointed ears. It can be hard to tell the difference between an Elf and say a human Kirmarian. The notable differences would be: The Elves tend to be taller, they have slightly raised cheekbones, their complexion is fair.

Besides physical appearance the Elves of Garion while peaceful have a very martial side. They maintain a large professional army, and they are actively engaged in regional diplomacy. In essence my elves are not a shy demure race by any means. They are not a shy introverted society, The Elves of Garion are a power player in their region of Tera, and a strong steadfast ally of the Empire of Kirmar.

The Sunwright Chronicles: Empire At War:
Crisis engulfs the Empire of Kirmar. Barbarians from the east have poured through the borders of the Empire and threaten to capture the imperial capital. In addition to the invasion mysterious agents flood the Empire seeking to destabilize the already weakened state. To make matters worse Paris along with his wife Suadela have mysteriously vanished leaving their children Tobias, Calia and Pershing to face the current crisis alone. Luckily for the Empire of Kirmar the Sunwright children are more than ready for the challenge that faces them.
But will the united strength of the Sunwright children be enough to save the Empire of Kirmar? As the barbarians continue to push their advantage love and romance blooms in the most unlikely places. A sleeping giant in the Elven nation of Garion is wakened by the immediate danger facing Kirmar, will the Elves support Kirmar as they have done many times before? In the south the Empire of Imaldris formerly a part of the Empire of Kirmar is facing its own troubles. A weak Emperor has allowed the nation of Nazzir a long time enemy of the Empire to grow in power.
Even in these dark times there is always hope. A struggling Empire which has stood for nine hundred years is forced to come together to face the greatest crisis it has ever seen.
