Charming by Dannika Dark (audio book)

Charming (Seven, #6.5)Book Description:
After seven hundred years, Prince has acquired everything a Packmaster could desire. But when he meets the enchanting Nadia Kozlov, he realizes there’s one thing he doesn’t have: answers. Prince owes his life to a man he hasn’t seen in centuries, and Nadia holds the key to his whereabouts, because that man is her father.
Destinies collide when Nadia’s sister shows up unexpectedly. Katarina is a skilled bounty hunter, hot on the trail of a nefarious outlaw who turns out to be Prince’s old nemesis. Prince teams up with Nadia’s sister to track down the Mage, but the real game of cat and mouse is already underway as sparks fly between Prince and the cunning bounty hunter.
The only trouble? Nadia wants him too.
"Most men can only handle me in small doses."
In the Seven series timeline, this full-length novel is 6.5 and comes after Two Minutes. However, Charming can also be enjoyed as a stand-alone and won't give away spoilers to the series. This is a full-length novel.

My Thoughts:
This was a good, quick listen.  Prince is a Packmaster and is of the 'old royal' blood.  That means he needs to mate with a female from 'old royal' blood as well.  He meets Nadia and thinks she might just be the one.  It is very interesting that she is also the daughter of his long lost friend who saved his life.  Then the twist shows up in Kat.  She is Nadia's twin sister and polar opposite.
Kat is a bounty hunter and not exactly who a Packmaster would look at for a mate except that she is exactly what Prince (Charming) needs.  The narrator for this one made the characters come alive for me.  Kat's sass was wonderful and it contradicted so well with Charming's proper attitude!  Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
It was a 4/5 for me.

Covering Love by Caryl McAdoo & Giveaway

Covering Love (Texas Romance Book 8) by [McAdoo, Caryl]Book Description:
Love may cover a multitude of sins, but not knowing all the facts can also get a man killed.
A family calamity gathers the clan, then a dying request tests loyalties and changes lives. New York City’s posh society, living on a rugged Texas hill country ranch, and the isolation of Alaska’s frozen tundra share little commonality and make going from one to another difficult at best. Still, destiny drives Crockett and his sister Charlotte where neither wants to go or thinks they belong. Second and third generations of the Buckmeyer progeny encounter danger, challenges, heartaches, and joys. But then reunions are all the sweeter for it.
This tale continues the breathtaking—and sometimes heartbreaking—family saga of the Buckmeyers, Baylors, and Nightingales that readers around the world have come to love.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed the characters in this one.  This is apparently the 8th in the series but you can read it just fine as a stand alone (which I did).  The book ranges all over from New York to Texas and further.  I really enjoyed the story that Evie reads.  I liked that aspect, it was different and drew me in.  Evie herself is a sweet, innocent child but also has wisdom beyond her years at times.
The wishes of a dying family member send different parts of the family in different directions on different jobs.  The author really doesn't hold back and she lets her faith shine through in the writing.  This book has love, forgiveness, second chances, and a lot more.  There are tasks put to characters that make you wonder if they can handle it or how the situation will turn out and the book doesn't disappoint.
4/5 for me.  I would love to go back and read the previous 7 books.

Hunted by Sandra Robbins

Hunted (Firebrand Book 2)
Book Description:
After over one hundred documented missions as Gray Feather, the elusive military sniper, Colt Hanson is trying to put his former life behind him. However, a mission he carried out in Africa against the rebel leader of The Leopard Army still haunts his dreams because the shot that ended the life of the sadistic killer also brought about the failure of his marriage. Now after five years, members of The Leopard Army have come to America to sell a diamond that will enable them to buy guns to carry on their rebellion, and they are seeking vengeance on Colt for killing their leader. But they also have targeted Colt’s estranged wife Sloan, and the two find themselves thrown together again as they become the prey of the vicious hunter known as Nimrod. If Colt is to save Sloan’s life, they must put their differences aside and work together as they begin a cross-country journey trying to elude Nimrod who has vowed he will not stop until Gray Feather and his woman are both dead.

My Thoughts:
I completely enjoyed this book.  Sloan has left her former life and her husband far behind.  Things happened that were too much for her to take and now she lives moving from place to place as a fill in nurse.  The problem is when the past catches up to the present.  Colt has never stopped loving Sloan or hoping that they will reunite.  He just didn't expect their reunion to go quite the way Nimord has planned.
The author did a good job making me like the characters here.  The story flowed well and there was romance, suspense and action throughout.  There were several times I thought the story was going to go one way and the author took it in a different direction.  I wasn't surprised by who the bad guy was but it did make me sad the way it all went down!  I want to read more about the Firebrand family and see what happens to them.
It was a 5/5 for me.  While it is the second in the series, that doesn't take away from the story at all.

Powerless by Tera Lynn Childs and Tracy Deebs

Powerless (The Hero Agenda, #1)Book Description:
Kenna is tired of being "normal". The only thing special about her is that she isn't special at all. Which is frustrating in a world of absolutes. Villains, like the one who killed her father, are bad. Heroes, like her mother and best friend, are good. And Kenna, unlike everyone else around her, is completely ordinary— which she hates.

She’s secretly working on an experiment that will land her a place among the Heroes, but when a Villain saves her life during a break-in at her lab, Kenna discovers there’s a whole lot of gray area when it comes to good and evil and who she can trust.. After all…not all strength comes from superpowers.

My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed Kenna's story.  She is a powerless girl in a world of superheros and villains.  Kenna's attitude is great about it though.  Her best friend, Rebel is a super and they share everything.  At least that is what Kenna believes.  To her, the world is good vs. evil so Heros vs. Villains.  She had never thought it could be any other way, until she meets a certain Villain.
Her mother is an amazing scientist who tries her best to keep Kenna safe.  I liked all the characters in this story.  Kenna's transformation is amazing as the story goes along.  The author did a great job with making the book so engrossing that you don't ever want to put it down.  There is action from the beginning to the ending (cliff-hanger).
It was a 4/5 for me.  I really liked the characters (so much so that I bought the second book already).

In The Light of the Garden by Heather Burch

In the Light of the Garden: A NovelBook Description:
In the Light of the Garden is a novel about unearthed family secrets, the enchantment of past loves, and the indelible power of forgiveness.

Inheriting her grandparents’ island estate on Florida’s Gulf coast is a special kind of homecoming for thirty-one-year-old Charity Baxter. Raised by a narcissistic single mother, Charity’s only sense of a loving home comes from childhood summers spent with Gramps and Grandma. But piercing her fondest memories is her sharpest grief—the death of her beloved grandmother, when Charity stopped believing in the magical healing power of the weeping willow that still casts a shadow on their property.

Now that Charity has returned, she’s full of longing and regret, until she befriends her neighbor Dalton Reynolds, who has come to Gaslamp Island carrying his own heartache. As other exiles arrive—a great uncle harboring secrets, a teenage runaway—Charity begins to reconsider what makes a family. When her own estranged mother shows up in crisis, Charity is challenged to search her heart for forgiveness. But forgiving herself may require a little magic from the last place she’d expect to find it.

My Thoughts:
Loved this book.  Charity inherited her grandparents' home after they passed.  It is on an island and it is a bitter-sweet homecoming.  Her grandparents were her refuge.  Her mother was self-centered and had issues.  So, this story has sadness.  The plus side is, it also has forgiveness and second chances.
The author does a great job with the characters.  They are not one dimensional in the least but very developed.  I honestly didn't want to put this book down at all once I started it (but was forced to for meals etc :( ).  As the story plays out, watching how the characters grow and change was wonderful.  I would really love to live with these people!
It was a 5/5 for me.
